Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good mower with a serious flaw I purchased this mower 4 years ago. After having it for 2 years I had the rear wheel height adjuster break off. Fortunately it was covered under warranty. Less than two years later the same thing happened. This mower is not used commercially and is stored in a garage. After investigating the issue, this one adjuster tab supports the total weight of the mower and catcher when turning or lifting the front of the mower. Over time, this causes the rear adjuster lever to shear off. This appears to be a serious design flaw. I have had other mowers for many years and never had this problem. I would think that it would hold up much longer than 2 years. Other than that, the mower is very reliable and does a great job on my lawn. I would seriously consider a mower with a different adjuster design and rear wheel drive when the time comes to replace this one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty Dependable Have had this mower for several years. Was always very dependable until a year or so ago. Pulled it out this past spring and could not get it to start – period. Cleaned the full lines, put in a new spark plug and anything else I was capable of doing myself. Finally, a relative cleaned the carburater jets and everything was fine. He told me that gasoline with ethanol can draw moisture and cause the jets to clog. But I always use Stabil gasoline additive to prevent this issue, but apparently that's not a guarantee. So now I'm using 100% pure gas with no ethanol. Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mows well, has other issues This is my second TB230 mower, purchased for price and features. It starts easily and mows evenly, always leaving a few unmoved grass blades behind. My biggest problem with the mower is that it will not throw grass to the back of the bag, especially if conditions are even a little damp. Mine is a semi-arid climate, average humidity very low, so if humidity is over about 20%, then I have trouble. I have tried a non-mulching blade with no better results. I will hunt for a rear wheel drive next time for better traction on slight slopes. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected! I ordered this lawnmower in July 2019 to replace another Troy-Bilt mower i purchased in 2003. The old one still works pretty good, but decided to give to my Niece. This new Troy-Bilt TB230 operates with ease and cuts the lawn in less time because I no longer need to cut it twice for the grass to look perfect. The self propelled lever makes it easy to control the speed of the mower for all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Performer! I've had 3 good years using the TB230 mower. It would start on the first pull and had the torque to cut grass that was dense, and sometimes high, in the warm, rainy environment of Florida. The option of mulching, bagging or side discharge is handy depending of the results desired. The personal pace feature of the self-propelled front wheel drive makes it easy to mow without strain and easy to maneuver when turns or obstacles are met. There was minimal service required and it ran continuously until the job was finished. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Mower I have used this mower 7 times it starts on no more than two pulls, has a nice even cut even on rough areas. It is a little heaver than my last mower but that has not been a problem. I will add at this point I am 80 years old and a lot of things are heaver than they used to be. Good product

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GREAT MOWER I bought this mower on line. I have only used it twice but I love it. great cut, very easy to use. starts on first pull. I would have given it 5 stars but the rubber on the handle grip has already started to come apart. It is rough and rubbed a blister on my hand. I can wrap the handle so no big deal but it should really bee looked into

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cuts way too short Every landscaper who walks across my lawn scolds me: "You're cutting your grass too short!" they all say. I reply, "Yeah, I know-- it's on the highest level!" They say, "no way. Show me your mower." After 5 minutes of tinkering, They give up and grunt at me. This has happened 3 times. Look, the unit's decent; I like it. I'd like a wider deck, but I like it. The mulching is decent, the running is decent. It starts first or second pull EVERY time... but the deck is too low, and there's nothing I can do about it. Since this is actually STRESSING the lawn I'm trying to be nice, this machine gets 2 stars. The specs say highest level is 3&12 inches? No way. More like 2 & 1/2, max. If anyone can help, I'm all ears.
