Rated 5 out of 5 by from In a word ... AWESOME !!! Love it ... absolutely love it. Did a lot of research before buying, and the Consumer Reports review convinced me. Tons of favorite features, topped by Electric Start, Heated Grips, Joystick Chute Control, and One-Hand Turning. I've only used it a couple of time, but thus far, I'm really impressed with how well it's made, and how easy it is to operate. It's a snow-swallowing monster, and exactly what I needed for my Oregon Ranch. Highly recommended, from every standpoint. Haven't seen anything yet that I could even remotely identify as a "minus".

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Worked great until it would not start I have used this snow blower for several years without a problem. I ran the engine out of gas last spring. When I put gas in it this fall, it would not start. I changed the spark plug and still would not start. I called a repair man, who checked the engine and also could not get it to work. He told me that it it might be a timing problem but the cost to dismantle the engine with no guarantee of success might just be throwing my money away. I have worked on small engines for a lot of years. The compact design of the engine makes repair too difficult for me to handle myself. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heated Handles A Blessing I clear snow professionally for 6 families in my neighborhood. This includes their walkways and driveways. Since my neighborhood has driveways that average 100 feet long I could be outside for several hours depending on the height of the snow fall. During this time the hands can become very cold due to lack of movement while operating a snow thrower. This model has heated handles that keep your fingers warm inside your gloves. This on top of it's snow clearing amount make it a pleasure to own. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't wait to use it AGAIN! Bought this new in November 2018. It is such a smooth running machine, I highly recommend it! All my neighbors love it too, lol, especially because I enjoy using it so much that I end up doing the whole street... A lot of people dread snow, but not this guy! Bring it on mother nature, I'm ready to snowblow!!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost Perfect Very happy with the steel construction, a solid machine. A few small disappointments. 1- the up and down snow chute cap is binding on the plastic spacer between the chute and cap. I will need to fix this because the small motor drive is struggling to move it up and down. 2- the gear selection lever and the slots that it locks into are a little hard to work and feel somewhat flimsy. 3- I liked the red side stripes on the drum and was disappointed they are not available. 4- and last I think it should come with the drift cutters for that much money. Knowing these four things I would buy it again in a minute, I am just super picky. I also mounted a led light on the front of the drum. In some positions the light shines on the chute. Good luck. Rated 5 out of 5 by from USING ON GRAVEL DRIVEWAY This review is for the 30" version of this Troy-Built large-frame snow thrower. Both the 30" and 34" Arctic Storm snowblowers have similar construction and features. The 30" has a 357 cc engine, while the 34" has a 420 cc engine. One reason that I bought this snow blower was because it was advertised as being suitable for use on gravel driveways. You can set the skid shoes on the bottom of the auger housing (or bucket) to elevate the auger two or three inches above the ground, which is supposed to keep the auger out of the gravel. But my machine started picking up a lot of gravel and blowing the gravel out the chute, which was kinda scary, and it caused my machine to break down. If you plan to use a snow blower on a gravel driveway, you might be able to learn from my experience. This was the first time I had ever used a snow blower, and I didn't understand what was happening, so I continued plowing until the auger stopped turning because a rock became lodged between the auger and auger housing, which jammed the auger and burned up the auger/impeller drive belt. The chute directional control stopped working at about the same time, and I suspect a small piece of gravel probably jammed it as well. I took the snow blower to a local small-engine repair shop, which repaired it before the next snowfall. Reflecting back on what had happened, I believe my driveway was just too soft and the skid shoes at the bottom of the auger housing dug into the gravel, which lowered the level of the auger so that it was picking up gravel--especially on curves and turns. This was the first snowfall of the season, and the ground wasn't frozen yet. On the afternoon when I plowed, the temperature was several degrees above freezing. The next time it snowed, I arose before dawn (usually the coldest time of day) and plowed while the temperature was still below freezing. This time the auger picked up very little gravel, and I knew enough to lift the bucket when it started to do so, and gravel wasn't a problem. This is when I learned that the built-in headlight on the snow thrower is ineffective. The light's beam is blocked by the chute and the chute-operator housing. The headlight wasn't totally useless, however, because it illuminated the ground at the sides of the machine, so I could see the previous plowed furrow, and I tried to align the machine's current swath to the previous furrow (while not being able to see ahead of the machine). Following the next two storms, I plowed during daylight hours shortly after dawn, and the machine did a good job both times. It only takes two round trips to sufficiently clear our long driveway, plus five brief passes in front of the carport. About a half hour of work in all. I have since bought a battery-powered work light with a magnetic base, which sticks to the top of the auger housing at the front of the machine, but haven't yet used it. Using this snow blower was kinda fun. Actually, I didn't want to stop plowing when the job was done. It's nice to be in control of when my driveway gets cleared, rather than waiting for someone else to come and plow it for me. And now I don't have to shovel by hand the bank of snow left by a snow plow in front of the carport and at the street. The snow thrower usually starts on a cold morning with just one pull of the starter cord, sometimes two. (When plugged into a standard 120v electrical outlet, the blower can also be started with the push of a button.) The machine turns on a dime, so you can reverse direction without the need to carve a big loop...just make your turn at a slow forward speed or else the machine will swing you around with it.The thumb-controlled joystick rotates the chute discharge direction quickly and effortlessly. The heated hand grips are great when it's cold outside. Recently, I checked a few video reviews on the Internet regarding both the 30" and 34" Arctic Storm snowblowers. Experienced reviewers seemed to be impressed with these machine's features, ease of operation, power, and build quality--apparently a significant improvement over earlier models. And the 30" machine received a top ranking from Consumer Reports. These reviews, coupled with my own recent experience, have made me feel much more confident about my purchase of the Troy-Bilt Arctic Storm. Plus the price compares favorably with similar machines.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tough as nails I bought the blower second hand and it's an older model than the current one so I still have crank handle shoot control which is my only complaint but that's no longer a issue with the newer models. The only thing I've had to replace on mine is the shoot itself which got busted up by rocks and the angle adjustment cables because they had gotten kinked. I've used this blower for 3 years and inup to 4 feet of snow. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Back Saver! I bought this 2 years ago and have had zero issues with this machine. This thing is a beast and will chew through deep wet heavy snow like it was nothing. It leaves my driveway and sidewalks clean and I even use it to get rid of the huge pile that the snow plow leaves in front of my driveway. I have used this so much that I wore the metal feet down to nothing. I easily ordered new ones and I am good for another 2 years. I am totally satisfied with this purchase.
