Hello there, Thanks for the question! We appreciate you taking the time to check in with us and we hope you've been staying cool this summer. Just had this range delivered yesterday. Tried to use convection bake tonight but the fan is not moving at all. Does it only come on at a certain point, like after it is fully preheated? Any wisdom? Thanks in advance.

Asked by: Cad Woman
Hello - Thanks for reaching out to us, and for your purchase of a new GE Appliance! We truly appreciate your choice to do business with us, and are happy to provide some guidance on the convection fan operation. On some models of electric ranges, the oven convection fan comes on immediately. On some models, the fan is also used during preheat. The convection fan will typically operate during all convection cooking modes and (along with the heating elements) will shut off when the door is opened and turn back on when door is closed. During cooking modes it will run to a specified on/off cycle, dependent upon the cooking mode being selected. It is normal for the fan to cycle on and off frequently during the convection cooking cycle. Algorithms decide when elements and fans should run to create the optimal heat distribution within the oven cavity. If you convection fan is not operating as detailed above, we recommend taking advantage of your warranty by having a GE Appliance technician properly diagnose and repair your appliance. You can schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-432-2737 or schedule on-line at http://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm. We hope this helps! - Trey@GEA

I purchased model JB655YK6FS. Is it safe to use a liner on the bottom of the oven under the heating element?

Asked by: Diane2021
Hello, Thank you kindly for reaching out to us and asking this question. We hope you are doing great and staying safe. We wouldn't recommend using a liner on the bottom of this model as it can cause complications. These kinds of items can trap heat or melt, resulting in damage to the product and the risk of shock, smoke, or fire. We recommend placing foil on a lower rack, several inches below the food, this can help catch any food and keep the oven clean. You can check out more information on page 13 of the Use and Care manual. Here is a link: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-2000902.pdf Thank you for being a part of the GEA family. Stay safe out there. Asked by: gkap17
Hello! Thank you for reaching out to us at GE Appliances. This is a great question, and we are happy to help! This is a fabulous range, with so many great features. One of the many great things about this range is that it has the capability to operate in the traditional or convectional baking modes. In order to utilize the traditional bake, you will simply select the "Bake" option on the control panel. If you wish to use the convection method, you will select the "Convection Bake" option. I'm looking to purchase heat diffusers for the 2 front burners of the JB655. Can you recommend a compatible product?

Asked by: FancyToast
Hi there FancyToast, We appreciate having you in our GEA family and are thrilled you are interested in utilizing the many different accessory options for this beautiful range! We do not recommend using any kind of diffuser for our gas or electric model ranges. A "diffuser" is a solid or perforated piece of metal used to lower the heat of a burner. Do not use any kind of diffuser or similar product on any cooktop burner, including Calrod, solid disk, induction, radiant/halogen surface. We do not have additional accessories for this model that will do something similar to a heat diffuser. We apologize for this inconvenience. We would also recommend looking at additional cookware and accessories we do not recommend using, we will post a link to this below! https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=21068 Thank you again for checking with us on this and have a great weekend! Brand new and I'm thinking it's not right.  The oven control area clicks a lot the whole time it preheats and bakes plus it doesn't get to temperature.  Also, is the convection fan supposed to go on and off so often?  Not liking how it's working.

Asked by: buncy
Hello buncy - We are glad you were able to reach out to us with this. We're definitely happy to provide some clarity in these situations. We have found that the control area clicking is normal; it's just the mechanism making sure to set the temperature the correct way. However, if the temperature is not being reached then we would recommend trying a reset of the electronics. This can be done by removing the power cord for 30 seconds and then plugging back in. As for the convection fan, it is also normal for it to cycle on and off. This is to ensure that the hot air is being directed properly. We apologize about any confusion and inconvenience. We hope this helps some. Let us know if you have any additional questions. Jonathon@GEA

I'm having trouble getting the oven light turned off on the lower oven of the 30" 6.6 cu. ft. Freestanding Electric Range with 5 Elements and Convection Oven. Can you help me?

Asked by: Jo Wa
Hi there Jo Wa, We are sorry to hear the bulb in your lower oven is not wanting to turn off and appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us about this! We noticed the model you sent us is JB655SKSS and this is not a double oven model. The model equivalent that is a double oven is JBS86SPSS. Let us know if this is the range you have so we can accurately diagnose this! If the lower bulb doesn't want to turn off this might be because the bulb is loose or defective. Often times when a light bulb is not properly functioning, it isn't seated correctly and we recommend trying tightening. If simply readjusting the bulb does not fix this, then we recommend getting a replacement bulb. If you have tightened the existing bulb and tried to replaced it with a new bulb and you are still having this problem, the issue might be with the operating pad to the light. To diagnose the functionality of the operating pad, you would need to schedule an appointment with one of our experienced service technicians! You can schedule an appointment with a GE Appliance technician by calling 1-800-432-2737 or schedule online at http://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm https://www.geapplianceparts.com/store/parts/spec/WB08T10045 (Lower oven replacement bulb) Please let us know if this gets resolved, we hate this inconvenience for you and want to do all we can to help! Thank you again. Drew@GEA

If I move a frying pan to another burner it leaves a horrible mark. I SCRUB it with the cooktop cleaner and a cloth but I can't do this each time. Do I have to buy new cookwear? My last ceramic top did not leave marks.

Asked by: CKVan
Hello Carol VanD, Thank you choosing GE Appliances for your home. We are sorry to hear you are having an issue with your cooktop. We are happy to help. We recommend to be careful not to slide pots and pans across your cooktop. It will leave metal markings on the cooktop surface. These marks are removable using the ceramic cooktop cleaner with a non- scratch cleaning pad for ceramic cooktops. Carefully check the bottom of pans for roughness that would scratch the cooktop. If the pans are rough and not flat bottoms, new cookware is recommended. Please reach out with any additional questions. Del@GEA

Can I use this stove to can vegetables and meat?

Asked by: vicsue
Hi vicsue, Good afternoon and thank you for choosing GE Appliances. Yes, you be able to can vegetables and meat on this stove. Observe the following points in canning: Do not use large diameter canners or other large diameter pots for frying or boiling foods other than water. Flat bottomed canners must be used. When canning, use recipes and procedures from reputable sources. These are available from canning jar manufacturers and county extension offices. Remember that canning is a process that generates large amounts of steam and heat. Use extreme caution. Thanks for checking! Dom@GEA

I've had several convection ranges in the past. This range does not seem to maintain heat, nor does the fan seem to be circulating very correctly. Not sure why, but it should not take 16 min to bake 9-11 min pb cookies. Door opens and it goes to preheat.

Asked by: Roberta Cotton
Hi there Roberta Cotton, We are sorry to hear that you are having a heating issue with this range and are happy to look into this! We completely understand your concern with your range taking longer than it should to preheat. Your range has been designed to maintain a tighter control over your oven's temperature. You may hear your oven's heating elements click on and off much more frequently than in older ovens, this is the convection fan. Not to worry, that is a normal sound. This achieves better results during baking, broiling, and self-clean cycles. This link has additional information about preheating and some common preheat times. https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=16540 If this does not explain any of the issues you are having and you still notice these issues, it might be something more in depth than we are able to diagnose without checking the unit out. If you would like to, you are more than welcome to reach out to us again with additional information regarding the circulating fan and heating and we will do all we can. You may also schedule a service if it doesn't seem like what we described is the issue you are having. One of our experienced service technicians will be more than happy to come and diagnose the problem! You can schedule an appointment with a GE Appliance technician by calling 1-800-432-2737 or schedule online at http://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm Please let us know if we are able to help further.
