Your first payment for an online order must be made using a debit or credit card. Once the first payment is made, your local store will accept cash, checks, money orders, and all major credit cards, or you can continue to pay online. If you are interested in online payments, please go to myaccount.aarons.com and click on “Register.”

How much detergent does smart dispense use each load?

Asked by: JillG
Hello JillG, Thanks so much for reaching out to us. This is a great question and we are more than happy to help. We apologize for our late response. Smart Dispense can use various amounts of detergent. The detergent amounts dispensed are determined based on water hardness in the home, load size, and soil level on clothes. The detergent is automatically dispensed throughout each pre-wash and wash cycle as needed. We hope this helps! Jonathon@GEA

I just got this washer today.  Looking through the glass it looks like the agitation does not pull the clothing down.  They just seem to float on top.  How can this clean.  These are sheets I am looking at.

Asked by: Nikki790
Hello Nikki790, Thanks so much for reaching out and congratulations on the purchase of your GE washer. We hope it provides many years of great use. On top load models with an Infusor (also called Pulsator), the Infusor replaces the agitator in the wash basket. The Infusor plate works alone or with the wash basket to provide different types of wash action including a centrifugal wash action called Centrifusion (cleaning solution is rapidly pulled through fabrics to force out dirt for thorough, gentle cleaning). The Infusor also rotates (or oscillates) back and forth to "measure" resistance on its surface to determine the load size. This provides Adaptive Water Fill so the Harmony auto-fills with just the right amount of water needed for great wash performance. If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out to us via social media or through our Contact Us page. We hope this helps. Best wishes. Mike@GEA

It says to hold the fill button so as to get more water, this is not filling. What am I supposed to do so as to fill with more water?

Asked by: Rosachiri
Hi Rosachiri Thank you for reaching out to us and choosing GE Appliances for your home. We apologize for our delay responding and to hear you are having an issue. We are happy to help. The Deep Fill button can also be pressed after the washer has completed filling and is in the wash phase if additional water is desired. We hope this helps! Dom@GEA

Other than being notified via the app when the washer is done, is there a beeping notification on the washing machine itself for when the cycle is finished? I've run one load and it didn't make any sound.

Asked by: lildollygirl
Hello lildollygirl - Thanks for reaching out to us, this is a great question! This model does make a sound when the cycle is complete, but it is not a loud signal you can hear in the other room. If the appliance is not making any sound at all when the cycle is complete please disconnect power to the unit for two to three minutes. This will reset the electronic components and hopefully restore normal functioning to the end of cycle signal. If the issue persists, this will require service by a qualified technician. You can schedule an appointment with a GE Appliance technician by calling 1-800-432-2737 or schedule online at http://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm We hope this helps! - Trey@GEA

If I wash more than two towels at once, they are soaking wet at the end of the cycle. I have to put the washer back on the spin and drain cycle, sometimes more than once. I load them as described in the manual, but it still happens. Please advise.

Asked by: Carolyn F
Hello Carolyn F, Thanks for reaching out. We're sorry to hear that your clothes continue to come out wet after a cycle. We can understand how this would be annoying. Make sure the cycle selected matches the load you are washing. Some fabrics will feel wetter when rinsed with cold water. Wash load may be out of balance. Redistribute load in washer and run through Drain & Spin cycle. We hope this helps. Best wishes!

If you don't buy new fill hoses for your new washer is the washer warranty void

Asked by: Esler32
Hello Esler32, We're glad you found the time to reach out. This is a great question and we're happy to help. If something were to go wrong because of the hoses, the washer would not be covered. If there were a manufacturing defect unrelated to the hoses, the washer would be covered. Either way, we recommend new fill hoses and that they be replaced every few years. We hope this helps answer your question! If you have any more questions, you can reach out to us via social media or e-mail and a member of our team will be happy to help. - Guy@GEA

How do you clean the interior of the G015 model washer? It doesn't have the "Basket Clean" feature. Thank you

Asked by: Florida Sunflower
Hi there, Florida Sunflower, Great question! We apologize for the delay in our response. To clean the washer tub, we recommend using Tide washing machine cleaner. This cleaner is available locally at grocery and retail stores. You may also try: 1. Fill the washer with hot water; set at regular speed and the longest wash cycle. 2. Add 3/4 cup of a water softening additive which can be found in the laundry detergent aisle (baking soda or vinegar can be substituted). 3. Allow washer to complete entire wash and rinse cycle. We hope that this helps! If you have any more questions, you can reach us here: https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/contact-others.htm

doesnt seem to have much water in a load . doesnt cover clothes Is that normal?

Asked by: sher331
Hello sher331 - Thank you for reaching out about your amazing washer. This is an energy efficient washer. The technology is different so you may notice a lower water level than previous washers, but the clothing is washed in a gentler fashion to save wear in the wash. Less detergent or the use of High Efficiency detergent will also increase clothing life. If you wish to add more water, you can utilize the Deep Fill feature. Press the button once to add 3 gallons to the load or hold the button for 3 seconds to fill the tub completely. Thanks!

How do I use powder detergent?

Asked by: DominickD
Hi DominickD - Thanks for choosing GE! This model does not have a dispenser drawer for detergent since it has a bulk detergent dispensing system. If it is desired to manually add powder detergent for a load, that detergent will need to be added directly to the basket, and the smart dispense set to OFF for that particular load. For reference, see page 13 of the Use and Care Manual at the following link: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-3000187.pdf Keep in touch!

Does the gtw840 model has a separate dispenser from the smart dispenser? If not, where do I pour a detergent if I want to use a different one from the one that is in smart dispense

Asked by: Anastasia A
Hi Anastasia, Excellent question! If you are not wanting to use the Smart Dispense feature, you would simply add the detergent on top of your clothing once they are in the washer. We would recommend using a High Efficiency (HE) detergent as this does not cause as much sudsing. If you would like to read more about the Smart Dispense feature, you can see page 13 of your Owner's Manual, here: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-3000187.pdf We hope that this helps! The detergent I use is highly concentrated. How can I set the amount that gets dispensed in a "normal" load?

Asked by: MariaK716
Hello MariaK716 - Thank you for reaching out to us! When selected, SmartDispense™ senses the size of your load and will automatically add detergent to the wash, eliminating the need to add detergent for each load. This machine is equipped with a bulk detergent reservoir that can hold approximately 75 ounces of liquid detergent for your convenience. This is enough detergent for about 50 average laundry loads, depending on what dispense amount is selected. The detergent amount selection on the control panel will default to AUTO when first powering up the washing machine. When AUTO is selected, the amount of detergent needed for each laundry load will automatically be determined based on the size of the load the machine senses. If you need to manually select the amount of detergent for a given load, this can be done by pressing the Detergent Dispense button on the control panel to select detergent for a Small, Normal or Large load. - Small will provide less detergent than average - Normal will provide an average amount of detergent - Large will provide more detergent than average. We hope this information is helpful! Contact us anytime.

How do you know when the detergent is empty if you fill it up?

Asked by: Jennx03
Hello Jennx03 - Thank you for reaching out to us. The filling port of the detergent reservoir is located on the front left of the washing machine. To fill the reservoir with liquid detergent, first open the tank lid by rotating the small lid clockwise. Then pour LIQUID detergent into the opening until the level reaches the MAX indicator located inside the filling port, also indicated with the horizontal line next to the MAX lettering. Filling to this MAX level will provide detergent for about 50 average laundry loads. To ensure detergent is always available, liquid detergent should be added to the reservoir whenever there is no longer detergent visible when looking directly into the filling port. While the visible part of the filling port is only about 2” deep, the tank is a long, shallow tank (think of filling up a cookie sheet with water as an analogy) that has a slight taper down. When detergent is no longer seen in the detergent cup, there is roughly 18 oz of detergent remaining. This is good for about 10 loads based off of average usage. We hope this is helpful! Contact us anytime.

is the washer large enough to fit a king size comforter

Asked by: rivierakid55
Hello rivierakid55 - Thank you for the excellent question. Determining if a certain size comforter will fit into a washer is difficult. This is because there is so much variability in comforter thickness. A thick queen size comforter can be substantially bulkier than a thinner king size comforter. There are certainly king size comforters that the GTW840CPNDG can wash. As with any bulky item being washed, there will be limited movement of the item in the washer so we always recommend to pretreat any stains on bulky items before washing and to be sure to load the item evenly to foster them washing well and spinning up smoothly. We hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Does this model have an agitator?

Asked by: Glad19
Hello Glad19, This model does not have an agitator. Instead, this model uses an Infusor. The Infusor replaces the agitator and has a short, wide base (wash plate) that works alone or with the wash basket to provide different types of wash action. With an Infusor, the clothes stay near the wash plate. The mechanical action of the Infusor moves the clothes through the water and against the sides of the tub and down around the Infusor. This wash system is softer and quieter during agitation. If you would like to view a tip sheet and diagram of the Infusor, you can do so here: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=175D6444P001_US%20(2).pdf Additionally, to see a picture of what this Infusor looks like in this model, you can do so here: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-specs/GTW840CSNWS#gallery-14 Hope this helps!

Asked by: Kjg123
Hello Kjg123 - This model offers The Water Station feature. It is for soaking or pretreating garments. When selected, the washer will supply either fresh water or water mixed with detergent from your SmartDispense™ system for garment prewashing or pretreating stains. Water Station is not an actual wash cycle; it is for pre-treating or soaking only. I hope this helps!

We like to soak clothes and my dirty shirts, can we do that? With deep fill, can it actually fill the washer, like in the older days when a washer actually used water?

Asked by: fredrice
Hi there, This unit does come with an Auto Soak feature that you can use should you like to pre-soak your clothing. The Auto Soak feature begins with a brief agitation, soaks for a specified period of time, then moves through the rest of the cycle automatically. Repeated pressing of the Soak button will scroll through 15 minute, 30 minute, 1 hour and 2 hour selections and then return back to 0 soak minutes. Also, if you would like to learn more about the Deep Fill feature, you can click on this link: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=22718 - There is also a short video within that article that will walk you through how the Deep Fill function works.
